Installing Lexmark 5400 Series All-in-One Driver on Linux Mint 9 Gnome

I recently installed Linux Mint 9, a 32-bit Gnome edition, from the i386 DVD. Along with it, I have two printers connected to my PC via USB cables: a Samsung ML-2510 (Black Laser Printer) and a Lexmark X5470, which is part of the Lexmark 5400 Series. While the Samsung printer works fine under Linux Mint 9, printing in color remains a challenge.

The Lexmark X5470 all-in-one printer, scanner, and fax machine functions seamlessly under Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit and Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit. However, I have not tested the 64-bit versions of Windows. Printing and scanning work without any issues under these operating systems.

Unfortunately, I was unable to print in color using my Lexmark X5470 printer on Linux Mint 9 Gnome. Despite my efforts, I was unable to resolve this issue. I hope that future updates or modifications will allow me to print in color successfully.

It's worth noting that both printers are recognized by the system and are listed under the 'Printers' section of the Settings panel. However, the Lexmark X5470 driver is not installed by default on Linux Mint 9 Gnome. To install the driver manually, I will need to download it from the manufacturer's website or search for a compatible driver package that supports my specific printer model.

In conclusion, while the Samsung ML-2510 (Black Laser Printer) works fine under Linux Mint 9 Gnome, printing in color remains an issue with the Lexmark X5470 all-in-one printer. I hope to resolve this problem in the future and enjoy hassle-free printing capabilities on my Linux system.
